OUR MISSION STATEMENT

  1. To serve the Greater Los Angeles community, including the legal profession, so as to ensure the proper administration of justice by:
    1. Supporting the advancement of members of the Italian American Lawyers Association of particular merit, as well as others clearly warranting support, to positions on the state and federal benches, the State Bar, and other politically non-partisan government positions in California.
    2. Providing services to, and participating in activities that enhance and enrich the legal bar, the community at large, including the Italian American community, the State Bar, and other legal organizations; and
    3. Rendering assistance to members of the legal profession, including law students.
  2. To foster a spirit of friendship among its members and others by providing a friendly forum in which all members of the State Bar can enjoy good company and cuisine while listening to speakers on a variety of legal and extracurricular topics of interest.
  3. To further the understanding of Italian culture and its contributions to California by providing a venue for Italian American lawyers and others interested in Italy to connect with Italian history, politics, commerce, and culture; and
  4. To maintain and foster the highest ethical standards for the practice of law

The Italian American Lawyers Association, a Los Angeles-based bar association, was founded in 1977. We have become known for our outstanding speakers, authentic Italian meals, and an energy that is unique to our bar association.

Annual events include our "Diversity and Inclusion Award" ceremony, "New York Italian Street Fair," "California Supreme Court Night," featuring the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of our state's high court, "Garlic and Gaelic Night," held with the Irish American Bar Association, "Marco Polo Night," held with the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association, Japanese American Bar Association, and others, and the "Installation Ball."

Our meetings are informative, and never dull. Every meeting is a celebration. We celebrate the Italian culture, the Italian American legal community, and we welcome everyone from our diverse legal community to attend. To join, one must be Italian, know an Italian, or enjoy Italian food, wine or culture. We normally hold our meetings at Casa Italiana, a meeting hall that is filled with good feeling, as well as aromas emanating from the kitchen reminding us of family dinners. For safety reasons during the pandemic we are holding our meetings online via Zoom.
