1987 Year 11

President: Chester Barchiesi
More than 600 persons attended a roast of past president George West. Proceeds went to the Mario Clinco Scholarship Fund established in the memory of the IALA co-founder who had died May 8, 1986. His widow, Betty Clinco, attended the roast.

1988 Year 12

President: Diana Carloni
The daughter of IALA co-founder August Carloni became the organization's first woman president (and its youngest). At her installation, she designated board members as "Team '88" and presented each with an IALA baseball cap. Speakers included California Supreme Court Justice Edward Panelli, Los Angeles Superior Court Presiding Judge Richard P. Byrne, and State Bar President Terry Anderlini. The IALA hosted a reception at the State Bar convention in Monterey. A huge Italian flag draped the entrance of the hotel, wine flowed, and tunes rang out on an accordian.

1989 Year 13

President: Carey Caruso
The son of co-founder Paul Caruso, president Carey Caruso appointed a committee to catalogue photographs and memorabilia. He requisitioned funds from the board for albums in which photos from events through the years have been placed. Meetings included a debate on gun laws between Los Angeles City Councilman Nate Holden and a National Rifle Assn. representative.

1990 Year 14

President: George Schiavelli
The year started and ended with a Supreme Court justice as a speaker. Justice Joyce Kennard was the first speaker of the year and Justice Armand Arabian was the last. Gubernatorial Appointments Secretary Terry Flannagan was a large draw.

1991 Year 15

President: Patricia Lobello- Lamb
The president was one of the original "interim" officers chosen July 20, 1977; she was recording secretary. As leader of the group, she instituted the MCLE program, which continues. The highlight of the year was the roast of Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Frank Baffa, emceed by his colleague, Charlie Frisco.
